Karatbars Releases New Innovative Blockchain-Based Smartphones

The Karatbars group has recently unveiled IMpulse K1, a crypto-based smartphone that features a highly secure data transmission system using blockchain technology and an end to end encryption. This innovative communication system is also called VoiceOver Blockchain Protocol (VOBP).

Interested users can pre-order IMpulse K1 starting April, but the first batch of units will not be shipped until October 2019. Price is estimated at €1,250, and it is targeted to smartphone users who need high-end security features.

Karatbars CEO Dr. Harold Seiz says that “privacy is the new order” is their motto. “Data security has the highest priority. In order to achieve this, our developers and engineers have developed knowledge from various disciplines: astronomy, mathematics, quantum physics, telecommunications, psychology, sociology and the functioning of financial systems,” Seiz said.

“A highly complex encryption of the transmitted data based on innovative algorithms ensures that the mobile phone cannot be hacked,” Dr. Seiz adds.

Aside from users who need high phone security, the company also aims to target blockchain-affine users who are constantly on the go. With VOBP, the phone is reachable even in remote regions where mobile phones are uncommon.

IMpulse K1 uses decentralized blockchain technology to protect its data traffic. Every program on the phone operates using peer-to-peer (P2P) blockchain encryption. That includes its messaging, voice call, and video call programs. The user’s data is also protected additionally with a physical private key which should be inserted into the phone before it can function.

Of course, it also has the standard security features that most smartphones have nowadays. That includes face ID recognition, fingerprint recognition, and passwords or PIN codes. All files and data are stored in the blockchain, and they can only be accessed using the private key.

The phone can also accommodate several user accounts but its cloud storage is limited. It also has its own app store where users can find more useful programs for the phone. “The IMpulse K1-Phone is thus a pioneer – not only for secure crypto-smartphones, but for a completely new field of application outside of payment transactions,” Dr. Seiz said.

Lastly, the phone is optimized for Karatbars members. IMpulse K1 complements Karatbars’ cryptocurrencies such as Karatgold Coin (KBC) and KaratCoinBank Coin (KCB). The phone serves as a platform for transactions and gold trading within the Karatbars universe.
